The Strategist Behind the System

More than two decades in education. A framework built from experience. A practice built on purpose.

I am Kelly Spain, Certified AI Consultant, educator, systems strategist, and founder of ABCs Mom Biz and The CARE Institute for AI Strategy.

For more than twenty years, I have worked inside education, leadership, and organizational systems long enough to see what happens when institutions are handed technology without strategy, governance, or human-centered implementation.

I built this practice to change that.

My work helps organizations move from AI curiosity to responsible implementation through governance-first strategy, intelligent systems, training, and operational alignment.

Everything I build begins with the same belief:

People first. Technology second. Always.

The Practice

Governance-First AI Strategy Built for the Real World

ABCs Mom Biz is an AI strategy consulting practice focused on helping organizations integrate AI responsibly, sustainably, and strategically.

We help institutions and organizations:

  • assess AI readiness
  • establish governance guardrails
  • design intelligent systems
  • support workforce adoption
  • align AI implementation with operational goals
  • create long-term AI strategies built to last

Our work combines consulting, systems thinking, training, and implementation support to help organizations navigate AI with clarity and confidence.

Every engagement is grounded in The C.A.R.E. Model for Human-Centered AI Strategy, the framework guiding every system, recommendation, and strategy we deliver.

The Flagship: The CARE Institute for AI Strategy

At the center of ABCs Mom Biz sits The CARE Institute for AI Strategy, the consulting and education division dedicated to advancing governance-first, human-centered AI integration.

The Institute exists to help organizations adopt AI responsibly while ensuring innovation remains aligned with ethics, accessibility, leadership, and long-term sustainability.

Through consulting, professional development, institutional strategy, and AI literacy programming, the Institute helps organizations build intelligent systems designed to support real people, real operations, and real outcomes.

The C.A.R.E. Model for Human-Centered AI Strategy is built on four pillars:

  • Clarity & Communication
    Building understanding before implementation.
  • Accountability & Access
Supporting responsible governance and equitable access.
  • Relevance & Responsibility
Aligning AI adoption with real organizational needs.
  • Equity & Empowerment
Ensuring innovation benefits people and communities meaningfully.

The Person Behind the Practice

Why I Built This

I did not come to this work chasing trends or looking for a new title.

I came to it because I kept watching organizations make high-stakes decisions about AI without governance, structure, or a clear understanding of how those decisions would impact the people expected to live and work inside those systems.

I could not ignore it. So I built something different. But the deeper reason is personal.

I am a wife, mother, educator, caregiver, and builder responsible for people who depend on me every day. My husband lives with Parkinson’s Disease. My experiences inside caregiving, education, and leadership shaped the way I think about systems, responsibility, and sustainability.

I understand what it means to need systems that work when the stakes are real. That perspective shapes every engagement I take on.

Not just what is possible. What is worth building.
